William Bradley Afton, or simply known as William Afton, is the villainous main protagonist of An Undeniably Canon Five Nights at Freddy's Timeline by The ooftroop. He is Elizabeth and Michael Afton's father, and Henry Emily's best friend-turned-arch-nemesis.
He is a more comedic parallel version of the original William Afton from the games. He is the co-founder Fredbear's Family Diner and Freddy Fazbear's Pizza who betrayed his business partner, Henry Emily, for forgetting to give him the five dollars he was owed and killed several children at their establishments in an act of revenge, including Henry's daughter. He also founded Afton Robotics and created Circus Baby and the Funtime animatronics.
After destroying the animatronics to spite Henry, William accidentally unleashed the spirits of his victims and tried to hide in the Spring Bonnie suit. However, William's arrogance and the suit's faulty spring-lock mechanism failed and crushed him to death, transforming him into the zombie-animatronic hybrid Springtrap. After being damaged in the fire at Fazbear's Fright, Springtrap repaired himself and reluctantly went back to the name William Afton to avoid scrutiny after his pants were set on fire by Henry before being lured into a fake pizzeria by Michael and Henry and burned alongside his creations, although he survived and was thrown back into the burned pizzeria by Michael after a brief stay at the hospital.
In Part 1 he was voiced by Theooftroop, who also voiced Michael in Part 1. From Part 2 and onwards he is voiced by EvieBunny.
Appearance[]
| “ | Once Michael had arrived at the facility on his first night, Baby took immediate notice that he looked similar enough to William that it was probably the same person. | „ |
| ~ The narrator describing how Circus Baby mistakes Michael for William, due to their strong resemblances. |
William's human design resembles his sprite from the SAVETHEM minigame in Five Nights at Freddy's 2, he is portrayed as a skinny 6,3" tall man, with a long crooked zig-zag shaped neck, black eyes with ocassional white pupils. While working on Fredbear's and the two Freddy's locations, the only accessory he seems to wear is a security badge on his chest. His skin tone used to be a bright tone of magenta until Cassidy kicked him in the shins so hard, it caused his skin to turn from pink to a dark shade of purple. Assuming his purple appearance is an exaggeration, then it can be implied from how Michael is mistaken for him that William is a skinny man with short brown hair.
As Springtrap, he appears as a withered and damaged version of the Spring Bonnie suit, With William's organs still inside, It shows how the suit has decayed to a drab olive color due to oxidation. with a portion of his right ear missing, Springtrap's animatronic body is tattered, with gaping holes and tears all around his torso, arms and legs which expose the suit's endoskeleton fused with what were once William's organs and flesh. However unlike his original game counterpart which has a wide, permanent grin with chipped yellow teeth and pale silvered eyes, this one is able to move his mouth according to his expressions and has black eyes with a yellowish rim and glowing light green pupils. And after his pelvis being burned by Henry, Springtrap shifts to a darker hue out of shame.
As Afton, he is shown to have major changes compared to his previous incarnation. Unlike Springtrap whose interiors were mostly the endoskeleton mixed with remnants of William's flesh, this one now shows his skeleton, as well as having a more yellowish olive color. He is now shown to have lost his left forearm, with a short bone shank dangling off it. As well as losing half of his left ear and completely losing his right ear. There are seen to be more patches on his suit with multiple metal wires around it as well as his feet now having fabric all over them, as well as brain matter poking out of his forehead and his mask having a pair of buck teeth at the top row of his muzzle and a couple of sharp teeth at the bottom. After the Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place fire, Afton's suit is darkened and almost burnt with various grime all over his body, with half of his left ear and lower jaw missing.
As The Agony, William’s soul was transported into the garbage, forging it all together into a new body — turning him into a 15-foot monster made of literal trash. He resembles one of his previous forms, except it’s much larger, completely disobeying the limits of human size. His body is mostly crippled and damaged. His face looks like a skull, still having his usual neck, with severely thinned limbs and fingers (a tiny hand can even be seen attached to one of his right fingers), along with garbage accessories scattered around his anatomy. Even though his body is made of trash, he still has a visible ribcage, with some bones impaled through parts of his body. When he proclaims, “I AM AGONY!”, his appearance becomes more detailed and terrifying.
As Glitchtrap, William used the power of 3D modeling software to manifest a digital recreation of his new form, renaming himself as Glitchtrap. In this latest form, Glitchtrap appears much more similar to Springtrap and Scraptrap, though more refined and not as damaged. He takes the appearance of a yellow rabbit with stitches around his limbs, a surrealistic rabbit face with whiskers, two long ears, and buck teeth, along with black sclera and pupils that have hot pink irises. He wears a jacket with five cropped stars and a purple bowtie, along with two black buttons on his chest. He still retains his neck, though it’s now colored purple and black, and he can extend it—something seen when he watches Tape Girl through the window. He is also capable of changing his voice between a friendly, family-style tone and his normal voice.
As seen in the teaser for Part 4, he takes on his final form, named Burntrap, as he is seen confronting the Tangle. While not much is visible, Burntrap appears to be even more damaged than his previous forms. The few visible features show wires (as usual) across his body, another exposed ribcage, and possibly thinned limbs. As of now, the rest of his full appearance remains a mystery.
Personality[]
Much like his original game counterpart, William Afton is a sadistic, resentful and chaotic man (Although his actions here are played in a more comedic and humorous tone), even before the events of the timeline as it stated that he spoiled The Empire Strikes Back in 1980, which caused Eleanor to divorce him. William also seems to enjoy his depraved actions as he is seen smiling sadistically as he performs them, as he also seems to have no qualms murdering children if enraged enough or even endangering his own son.
William is shown as a vengeful and resentful person as his main motivation for his murders were due to Henry never paying him his five dollars. It is shown in multiple scenes how William attempts to sabotage Henry's business and ruin his life like murdering twelve children on both Freddy's establishments, tampering with the Toy animatronics' facial recognition system, wiping the camera recordings clean, opened Circus Baby's Entertainment and Rentals in front of Freddy's in order to top it off, instructing his son, Michael to sabotage and disable the animatronics' A.I and dismantling the animatronics in order to spite Henry. His resentment was so persistent to the point it remained for years, even after 30 years, he waged war against Henry after being locked by him in the safe room for so long. And after Henry admits he gave Michael five thousand dollars, Afton is so enraged he attempts to assassinate his son due to him robbing his chance of getting his five dollars back.
Although it can be assumed that William seemed to appreciate being friends with Henry as it is seen how there are numerous pictures of him with Henry in his house, as well as not appearing to have any murderous tendencies at first as he is seen panicking after accidentally killing Henry's daughter, Charlie by giving her a death stare, although he eventually uses this ability to murder children in order to get revenge on Henry.
William is an expert at fooling, tricking and manipulating people as he is seen convincing five children to follow him into the safe room with the promise of their dead dogs actually being alive and safe with Old Man Jenkins. as well as gas lighting his son, Michael into believing the animatronics with dangerously high safety hazards that try to attack him were just a nightmare.
William kicking Foxy in the shins, which eventually causes him to get fired.
William also shows an extreme hatred towards the Foxy character and any of his counterparts, as he was just a rating trap in the Fredbear & Friends cartoon. It is shown in multiple scenes how he abuses the original Foxy animatronic, kicking him in the kneecaps so children would lose interest on him, tearing him so he could stay that way permanently and going to the Parts & Service Room in order to kick him in the shins while working under the name of Dave Miller, told Michael to throw away his Foxy mask because he considered it "disrespectful", made Funtime Foxy the lamest and least interest animatronic out of all the Funtime animatronics, tried to made Toy Foxy the most irrelevant animatronic as possible, tried to beat Foxy's high score in Pac N' Pal, ripped Phantom Foxy's hook and rejected the idea of Rockstar Foxy being his only ally during his purgatory, although eventually he appreciated his existence.

Trivia[]
- The running gag of William's hatred of Foxy was first conceived due to the ooftroop wanting to make fun of Funtime Foxy for being the lamest out of all the Funtime animatronics, so they wound up deciding that William despised Foxy due to him being nothing but rating trap for the Fredbear & Friends cartoon.[1]
- This hatred of Foxy seems to have been quenched due to Rockstar Foxy helping him in UCN, even asking for more Foxy levels in the Freddy Fazbear Virtual Experience.
- The reason of William's body going from pink to purple shortly after being kicked in the shins by Cassidy was that it was based on a sprite inconsistency in Five Nights at Freddy's 2, in which there are two William sprites with one of them has a more pinkish purple tone than the other.
- Ooftroop themselves have no idea if William, along with Henry and Eleanor actually look like colored people in-universe or if they're just portrayed that way.[2]
- It can be assumed they're just represented that way as it is shown how the Funtime animatronics mistake Michael for William, despite being from different colors.
- Unlike his game counterpart, Afton doesn't seem to have his bone-like ears, Ooftroop admitted they had to debate if they would include William's bone ears, ultimately they decided to remove them as William's human form doesn't possess any ears, thus also admitting that at remove his ears he was easier to draw.[3]
- According to his driver's license, William is 35 years old, however it is unknown when he was born as the license never reveals any dates, so it can be assumed he was born at some point between 1950 and 1958.
- William seems to have the ability to stretch his neck to comically absurd lengths.
- In one of the minigames featured in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, Midnight Motorist, there is a general consensus that the Yellow Guy we play as is supposed to be William, in An Objective and True Five Nights at Freddy's Timeline, ooftroop stated they just explained it as William in a yellow raincoat. However, in An Undeniably Canon Five Nights at Freddy's Timeline, this is later changed to Dave Miller being the Yellow Guy. Ooftroop also stated that they used this as an excuse to reference The Silver Eyes and make the Yellow Guy's name Dave Miller so William can eventually use it as an alias.
- Curiously enough, this made a lot of people think this was a reference to Dave Miller from the Dayshift at Freddy's series, although they eventually debunked this.
- The tweet Springtrap posted on Phone Dude's account was eventually posted on the actual Twitter platform on March 2nd, 2023, just like in-universe which was also posted on the previously mentioned day, although the difference is that the in-universe tweet was posted at 6:46 P.M (GMT-6), while the real world post was posted on 8:46 P.M (GMT-6).[4]
- Ooftroop eventually confirmed that in-universe, no one saw Springtrap's tweet but himself and that the only like we see is from him, who liked his own tweet.
- Following the release of Part Two, many viewers believed the cameo of the Shaggy character from the Scooby-Doo franchise, who cowardly refuses to salvage Afton, was a reference to Matthew Lillard being recently cast as William Afton in the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's film, as Lillard had previously played Shaggy in the live-action Scooby-Doo film and it's sequel. When asked about it, Ooftroop stated they had decided to put Shaggy in as the second failed manager as there weren't any other characters from Part One that felt right to bring back as the managers so they ended up drawing Shaggy and that two days after drawing the Shaggy scenes, on December 16th, 2022, Matthew Lillard was announced as William Afton and that it was all just a coincidence.[5]
- Despite having a South-Eastern English accent, William has never once stepped foot in England, as he was born on the United States, this may imply that he may either have had Anglo-American parents or just simply faked the accent.[6]
- When asked if the pizza served at Freddy's was made of cardboard, Ooftroop stated it wasn't and that William was just a terrible cook, as well as revealing that he cooked said pizza while wearing the Spring Bonnie suit.[7]
- He is implied to be lazy as he breaks his own leg to avoid taking out the trash.[8]
- His face is seen on the cover of "How To Sue Someone" in Part 2, implying that William wrote the book.
