William Afton is the main antagonist of the fanfic Fredbear's.

History[]

Early life[]

After establishing Fredbear's Family Diner, the business was close to becoming bankrupt due to malfunctioning animatronics and poor turnout. To solve this issue, Afton became obsessed with the powers of the Great Ones and summoned Shub-Niggurath to the diner. He would abduct dozens of children and feed them to the Black Goat of the Woods and uses its excrement which consisted of the digested souls of its victims. He termed the material "remnant" and applied it to the animatronics. From there, the animatronics became more lively and it generated buzz for the family establishment.

Modern day[]

Sometime after the narrator joins the establishment, Afton had become a deep shade of purple and skeletal in appearance with his clothes barely clinging on to his loose skin. Henry, in contrast, welcomed the narrator to the company briefly giving him the history of the restaurant while Afton would slink away to his office. One time, the narrator glimpses weird orbs of light. It should be noted that the Missing Child Incident had already occurred.

The events of Five Nights at Freddy's 4 play out with the Crying Child being Henry's youngest child of three children (the Bigger Brother and Emily). During his birthday party, his brother forces his head into the jaws of one of the animatronics causing the robot to bite down on his head, crushing his skull. Mourning the loss of his son, Afton approaches his business partner and suggests that he found a way to "put him back together." Henry follows him to another room but is traumatized with what was behind the corroders. Henry stopped coming to the family establishment after the tragic death of his daughter Emily.

When it was now just the protagonist and Afton, Afton insists that he follow him to the corroders explaining that he had experimented around with remnant to achieve immortality, but it unfortunately poisoned his body and tainted his skin. The narrator is introduced to Shub-Niggurath by the mad man who reveals that he was planning on opening the gates to allow the other gods into their world and wanted him to inherit his position.

Naturally, the narrator refuses and this enrages Afton. Among the dozens of clothes of Afton's victims, Afton tried to feed the narrator to the fertility goddess but he is instead grabbed onto. The diner inadvertently collapses on itself burying Afton and ending his years of child murder.
