William Afton, later known as Springtrap, is the main antagonist of the Five Nights at Freddy's inspired Minecraft series The Foxy Song by ZAMination.
He is a man employed at Fredbear's Family Diner who murders four children and stuffs their bodies into the animatronic mascots at the pizzeria. He returns years later to destroy the animatronics to cover his tracks but is mutilated and killed by the Spring Bonnie suit whilst fending off the animatronics.
After dying, he possesses the suit and becomes Springtrap, trying to hunt down and kill the animatronics once and for all.
History[]
William Afton's early life and motivations for killing his victims remain a mystery. What is known is that he was employed at Fredbear's Family Diner, presumably as a costumed performer.
One day in 1983, William arrived at work and picked out a group of four children, using the head of the Spring Bonnie suit to lure them to the backroom below the pizzeria. Once he lured the children away he proceeded to murder all four of them. Unbeknownst to William, the mother of one of the kids had noticed her son go missing and watched the entire ordeal go down in the back room. William proceeded to stuff the bodies of the children inside of the animatronics, but was notified of the police's presence upstairs, causing him to flee through a secret exit. Due to the bodies of the children being inside of the animatronics, they were never found and declared missing, although their spirits possessed the robots and waited for William to return so they could kill him.
Four years later in 1987, William returned to the pizzeria, now known as Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, to destroy the haunted animatronics and cover his tracks. William arrived and was targeted by Foxy, Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie and Toy Chica. Seeing that he was outnumbered, attempted to flee, but was restrained by Toy Bonnie and Chica as Foxy approached, ready to kill him. William was able to get the upper hand and stabbed Foxy with his knife before escaping, leaving his body broken and freeing one of his victims, although they were unable to pass on until William was dead.
William exited the pizzeria swiftly and made it to his car, however, as he was trying to drive away, he was attacked by the withered animatronics, who had been notified of Foxy's demise and were looking to hunt William, down. They blocked the exit to the car park and severely damaged William's car. Although it seemed like the end for him, William had a plan once he realized he could hide in the pizzeria. William got out of his car and made a run for the boarded up safe room. Upon breaking down the boards, he found the withered and decaying Spring Bonnie suit, which he equipped just as the animatronics arrived. William quickly took down Freddy, but his hasty movements triggers the springlocks and forces them to come lose, crushing William as he fell to the floor, with the suit even jamming the animatronic's eyes into his skull. William tried to crawl to the animatronics to finish them off but finally collapsed, dying.
However, William refused to give up and immediately possessed the suit, becoming Springtrap. He broke out of the safe room by destroying the walls and escaped the pizzeria, hiding in the back ally where Freddy, Bonnie and Chica would eventually find him. Springtrap charged at the animatronics and severely wounded Bonnie before escaping. After Springtrap escaped the animatronics, he began to walk away from the city and into the woods, where he stopped to take a look at his reflection in a puddle and seeing what he had become. Before he could keep going, Springtrap turned around to see that the four animatronics had willingly allowed the toy animatronics to dismantle them and rebuild them as a robotic amalgamate of Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy.
Springtrap tried to defend himself against the Amalgamate, but his attempts proved fruitless due to the sheer size and strength of the animatronic. The Amalgamate tore off Springtrap's mask, revealing William's rotting head as he tried to crawl away, only to be thrown against a tree and stabbed by the Amalgamate wielding a knife. As Springtrap finally died, William's spirit attempted to fly away, but the ground opened up beneath him and he was dragged down to Hell as he tried desperately to escape Hell's grasp.
Now in Hell, William was forced to both relieve the day he murdered the children (albeit with a much more demonic edge as illusions of the children attacked and tormented him) and defend himself against a horde of animatronics that attempted to get into his office, repeating over and over whenever he kept dying. Utterly destroying him mentally. William continues to suffer in Hell for the atrocities he committed.
Personality[]
William was a man who showed no remorse for the heinous murders he committed. He was sadistic, charismatic and ruthless, demonstrating numerous traits of psychopathic behavior, such as showing no remorse for his actions, appearing incredibly charming whilst concealing his true nature and having a very manipulative streak. William also appears to be quite cocky and confident, as he returns to the pizzeria years later and believes he is fully capable of taking down the animatronics. Aside from pure malevolence, the only other time William shows emotion is fear when being hunted by the animatronics and the illusions of his victims while in Hell.
As Springtrap, William became even more bloodthirsty and borderline feral, attacking in an almost animalistic nature and occasionally running on all fours to both attack his prey and run away. He harbored a deep hatred for the animatronics and was willing to do whatever he could to get back at them for indirectly causing his death.
Trivia[]
- It was speculated how William was able to escape the back room without being caught by the police until Micah mentioned in the Behind The Scenes video that William had escaped through a secret exit the police walked pass, but didn't make it into the video.
- The scene of William crawling in the Spring Bonnie suit was taking from a reference of Micah crawling on the ground.
- During the scene where William murders the child who possesses Foxy, his arm stretches to slash the kid as a transition.
