Overview |
“ | I did it... After all this time, I did it. [...] I BECAME A GOD. | „ |
~ Xylo's most famous quote. |
“ | Do you like it? It's my prized trophy. Fit for me. And only me. [...] I worked so hard to get it, Edward. So hard... And then he just so happened to have fallen into my grasp. So, I did what I saw fit for me to do. I was physical. I never thought anything about it first, but then... I looked into his gaze... EXQUISITE. Mine. All mine, Edward. And, thanks to your incompetence... YOU ARE MINE TOO. TOGETHER. FOREVER. | „ |
~ Xylo speaking to Edward before stealing his soul and putting him in the vessel of Sonic. |
“ | This game isn't over, until I say it's over. | „ |
~ Xylo after successfully trapping Edward. |
Xylo is the titular main antagonist of the horror story franchise The XYLO Chronicles, serving as a "protagonist" of the prequel XYLO: Origins (alongside Edward).
He is a parasitic alien from another timeline that witnessed the birth of his timeline's X. Obsessed with the power that the eldritch beast inhabited, Xylo desired such incredulous power, and as such, went to his timeline's Earth and forced a man to create a game simply known as Sonic.exe, based on his idol. Upon using a cable gap to enter the game, he began reaping the souls of anyone he found "suitable" until he came across his timeline's X once again, and hijacked his body as he saw fit.
He's the archenemy of Edward, the quadrilogy's main protagonist as a whole.
He is voiced by SleepingGuy, who also voiced Ai Tsaon in the English dub of Acting, Master Magus from Multiversal Legends and Landon from PreSurgence.
Villainous Acts[]
XYLO: Origins[]
- Upon witnessing the birth of his timeline's X, he idolized (and even obsessed) over the entity and his power so much that he crash-landed onto his timeline's Earth just to find a way to be with his idol forever. The first thing he did upon crash-landing was hijacking the brain of a Sega worker (as to not be seen) and forcing him into making the game Sonic.exe, and once that was released, he entered the game through a cable gap in the PC, thus allowing him to enter the game however.
- It is directly shown that Xylo had stolen - and even killed - the souls of the victims he took (stated to be ages 6-12), and placed them into vessels to play with him forever for decades. Those that were not "fit" for their respective roles were either killed or shoved into the animals that normally indicate the end of a Sonic the Hedgehog level and/or were normally kidnapped by Dr. Robotnik.
- It's even implied that Xylo took three people that knew Edward and placed them into the vessels of Tails, Knuckles, and Robotnik, judging by their facial expressions before Xylo gives chase/kills them in the original story.
- Although an accident, he still showed no remorse for trapping his timeline's X in the Sonic.exe game and hijacking him when becoming Sonic.exe, thus permanently sealing X within him, and empowering him greatley.
XYLO 1.0[]
- Using one of the arms coming out of his gaping mouth, he strangles Tails to the point that the innocent fox's head is ripped off. What's worse is that Tails is crying and begging Edward to help before meeting his grisly demise.
- Upon killing Tails, he uses his tendrils and "rips" the screen apart. Cut back to the game after that, and he had destroyed all of Green Hill Zone.
- Off-screen, but with clear evidence, he stitched several of the captured animals together (that are directly stated to have the souls of those Xylo didn't see "fit" for their roles), and laughed at them tauntingly before calling them by their actual names, something that even he knew he was doing, and even directly stated that he just wanted to see them suffer just like Tails and "all the others".
- Said act was so disgusting that Edward, regardless of how scared he was, rushed to the bathroom, threw up, and rushed back to his bedroom in panic to continue playing the game, as he was terrified of leaving it.
- After shapeshifting into Xonic (the Sonic/Sonic.exe disguise he uses) to lure Knuckles, he shapeshifted into the decapitated corpse of Tails to screw with him before sending out the actual Tails corpse to make it seem as though Knuckles was going mad. After dropping to his knees in exhaustion, Xylo picks up Knuckles by the waist and rips his head off, throwing it so far that it apparently hit something, sending down the entire airship and crashing into the middle of nowhere.
- After brutally dismantling Metal Sonic, he gives chase to Dr. Robotnik and guts him using the engine fan upon catching him, before using one of his tendrils to slice the doctor's head off.
- Uses all four of his tendrils to rip apart Metropolis, once again resulting in the fatalities of so many individuals, with their screams heard clearly in the background.
- Proclaims himself a God upon successfully sealing his timeline's X permanently, killing everyone in his game, and destroying all the islands on it, thus resulting in a virtual omnicide.
- Rips out Edward's soul after communicating with him, and traps him in the vessel of Sonic.
XYLO 2.0[]
- Apparently tortured Edward for 9 years straight, keeping him in place as so he could never escape. Edward has also received horrible injuries from Xylo, having scars on his ribs and even damaged his left arm so badly that Edward had to repair it himself.
- Upon Edward, who was in the vessel of Sonic, had found Xylo (who had become Xylodata upon spending nearly two decades in the Sonic.exe Gamejolt version and fusing with his game's data), the beastly parasite boasts to the boy that he had managed to assimilate all life in his game, and plans to off Edward too.
- He also declares that he will rip his variation's Earth to shreds once he's escaped, which would result in the deaths of billions.
- Forces Edward to hallucinate the decapitated dead corpses of Tails, Knuckles and Robotnik, with each having their own mulitations too:
- Tails has blood gushing from his head, for starters.
- Knuckles' eyes are completely absent, and uses his spine to attack Edward whilst his head floats around.
- Dr. Robotnik's corpse is much more gruesome: His stomach is completely empty, his ribs are elongated and are thus used as weapons, and he's left utterly crippled thanks to the lack of legs. Like with all the other corpses, Robotnik's head has been ripped off.
- Upon Edward SAVEing the corpses and letting them move on and/or reincarnate, Xylodata attempts to kill Edward himself when all else failed.
XYLO: Lost in Code[]
- Upon returning to the Gamejolt port after six months, Xylo re-entered his universe's X from the inside and reattached his head so that he could fix himself. The X from his universe was already dead prior to Lost in Code, so therefore, Xylo is committing necromancy knowingly.
- He kills Jenny Goldlight by removing her eyeballs before converting her soul into an undead version of herself. While Jenny did indeed deserve it for her relentless bullying towards Rosemary, he still killed her either way.
- Despite this, Jenny partners up with Xylo at the threat of her boyfriend, Liam's, life.
- It's revealed in flashbacks that after scrapping it, he trapped ManaTest, the original "Sonic.exe" character for the titular port, under a rock and the game's code. The first time the game was playtested, ManaTest experienced traumatizing pain from the pressure of the rock, violently glitching out alongside its "background" where its "level" should have been.
- The pressure would be made worse every time the game was closed, causing ManaTest to glitch out and be put in a state of constant pain. Ergo, Xylo is indirectly torturing ManaTest.
- He attempts to kill Edward by impaling both his legs and then his shoulder (which Xylo mistakened for the heart), not bothering to risk decapitating Edward after what the latter had done to him.
- After thinking he had killed Edward, Xylo goes on to brutally kill a 15 year-old girl named Rosemary, who was only messing with the game's files in an attempt to save ManaTest, not bothering to even touch Xylo's "file". Shortly after, Rosemary would be placed in the vessel of Amy Rose.
- After Rosemary had been beaten down by Jenny, instead of congratulating her, Xylo uses one of his tendrils to stab her, thus renderring the promise and friendship between the two nullified.
- He decides to fight ManaTest himself upon Manatest delcaring to stop Xylo once and for all. During the battle, he mocks Manatest over the fact that at the end of the day, he's a broken piece of code that was never meant to be seen.
- Upon seeing Edward and Rosemary alive, he attempts to use them as meat shields to survive ManaTest's fatal touch, which would glitch the two out violently. This ends up being backfired, however, and eventually leads to his demise.
Appearance[]
As Xonic, Xylo resembles Sonic the Hedgehog, but with light purple fur, lavender skin, and hot pink shoes without the iconic white stripes. He looks relatively normal, except that he has an eerie smiling mouth that never changes, hot pink blood leaking from his eyes, and slightly shrunken black irises. He's estimated to be slightly above the size of regular Sonic.
However, once revealed, Xylo is that of a tall, light blue Sonic-like beast that's quills are melting, and are more liquid-like. His wrist and ankle cuffs have fused with his body and his dark red shoes lack the white stripes that Sonic normally has. Parts of his skeleton is showing, and he also has a toothless grin on his face with black sclera with red (or no) pupils with X marks engraved into them with smaller white pupils in the center of them. Pink-red blood also runs from his eyes, body, tendrils, mouth and nose too.
As XyloRED, Xylo is notably, albeit slightly, angrier or sinister, and his entire body is red and extremely tall, being able to change his massive size at will. He has silver-red gloves, wrist and ankle cuffs, with his eyes the same colour, and being slits. He's also much more cleaned-up due to solidifying his own melting body. He notably lacks his tendrils too, but this is most likely a side-effect of transforming into this monstrosity.
As Xylodata, Xylo's appearance has changed drastically thanks to absorbing (and willingly fusing) his game's data. He now has yellow glowing eyes (one of them is a star-like shape), oil leaking from their respective places, and metallic tendrils (minus the blood on them), arms and legs. His cheeks have metal plates on them, and he now has sharp, needle-like teeth. The quills at the back of his head, as well as his back and ears, also have turned metallic. Most notably, his quills are more smooth and silky than before. His arms also seem to have varying spikes on them too.
In his true, parasitic form, Xylo is a nine feet tall, purpleish blue, formless liquid-like mass with a jagged mouth containing a dark violet, extensive tongue. He has a red eye located on both his head and torso, with a massive white X mark in them with blue pupils. Tendrils also seem to stem from the upper and lower parts of his head.
In XYLO: Lost in Code, he remains the exact same as his revealed form, except now his head can float as a result of decapitation.
Personality[]
Xylo is shown in the stories to be a pompous, sadistic and selfish parasite with no regards for anyone but himself. His overall obsession with his timeline's X pushes his self-importance even further, and only cares about having X and his power to himself, and reaps the souls of various others to get what he wants. When fusing with X, his egotism is shoved even further, with him becoming a torturous and boastful god-wannabe that proclaims himself one after he has taken the life of everyone in his game.
Xylo also hates humanity with a passion, and wishes to tear apart the Earth once he escapes into the real world. He seems to not only care about what he is doing, but takes stupendous glee in it too, disregarding many lives on Green Hill Zone, and laughing at their corpses once merging them together.
Quotes[]
“ | ManaTest: I don't think you can see the amount of pain you're putting on your victims, Xylo. Don't you know how many lives you've taken from this? It needs to end. Now. Xylo: I knew I should've left you scrapped... Still as intolerant as normal, I see?... But this time... You're going to see the exact wrath of a god. |
„ |
~ Xylo to ManaTest before their confrontation. |
“ | Jenny Goldlight: Oh, Xylo... I owe you my life for this!... Xylo: Good trade. |
„ |
~ Xylo right before killing Jenny Goldlight and converting her. |

Trivia[]
- Xylo's name is derived off of the Xylophone. In fact, his true form was originally going to be named Xylophanes before it was changed to Xylodata to avoid too many similarities to Sonic.exe.
- Xylo is one of the many Sonic.exe fan-characters not to originate from Twitter or DeviantArt, instead originating from FANDOM about a year ago.
- Xylo first started out as a concept made by SleepingGuy that originated at least a year ago (as stated above). This was then made into an actual Sonic.exe OC that he would use often and developed his stories as time went on. This also makes him the first Sonic.exe OC made by SleepingGuy as well.
- To add to that, this is also one of the other Sonic.exe fan-characters that is not an energy being or a digital abomination (kind of), instead being a parasitic alien that snuck itself into a game.
- "The Grand Finale" was composed by XOBITES for a friend's Sonic OC that was made 5 years ago. Since it hadn't been used since, the creator asked permission from XOBITES to use this as the final battle's theme between Xylo and Manatest, which he agreed to.
