Yoshi, referred to as Normal Yoshi throughout development, is the main antagonist of Five Nights at Yoshi's.

Appearance[]

Yoshi is depicted as a green animatronic dinosaur with no hat, red bowtie, the microphone, and two black buttons on his chest. He has orange spines on his head, and orange-brown shoes.

Personality[]

Before Yoshi was hijacked and taken control as the leader, the character who would help teach lessons and teach kids how to be good people and solve problems.

After the creator of the show took control of Yoshi, his existing personality was still there during the day, but he was beginning to act unusual as time went on. The pizzeria was shut down before Yoshi's evil fully took control of him during the day.

Behavior[]

Yoshi remains inactive until Night 3. He can sometimes change his appearance onstage rarely during Nights 1 and 2.

Yoshi was described to be "slow as molasses" during development, taking around 7 moves to reach your window in the small pizzeria. He has two poses for all rooms he enters except Chili's Corner. Looking at any camera slows Yoshi's movement, and looking at him directly will freeze him entirely.

He wanders through the Yoshi Stage, Party Room, Chili's Corner, and the Left Hall before reaching the window.

Once at the window, the cameras will be disabled and the lights will flicker. One bar is added to the player's usage meter (in 1.1). Yoshi quickly runs to either the left or right door, similar to Chili, a random amount of times before eventually retreating and returning to the Yoshi Stage, phase 1 or 2.

Yoshi kills the player when:

The player fails to close the door Yoshi runs to during the attack phase, as indicated by the high laugh and the black fade.
When the player runs out of power and Yoshi enters the Left Door, flashing. After the power cuts out, Yoshi will eventually kill the player, unless the player hits 6AM during this phase.

Trivia[]

Yoshi had various scrapped poses throughout development, some shown in the Unused Content and Concept Sketches sections of the extras.
The liquid coming out of Yoshi's eyes is supposed to be blood, however it is black. This is because the Scratch games colored it the same way, to avoid the project getting taken down by the strict Scratch guidelines.
- Jeb jokingly refers to the liquid as "oil".
Yoshi was originally going to choose the left or right door like he does in-game, but act like Freddy and slowly make his way to the Left or Right Corner and wait there.
Originally, Yoshi would yank wires and cut out 25 power after his attack phase, encouraging the player to look at Yoshi to make sure he doesn't attack. This was changed to make the attack phase happen more often.
Yoshi was going to keep his original laugh from the Scratch games, but this was changed to a new laugh in the full game.
When Yoshi is attacking, Daniel and Onion leave the doors immediately.
Yoshi was nerfed in 1.1 because his fast speed almost ruined the challenge of Daniel and Onion.
Yoshi was planned to move late in Night 2, but this idea was scrapped.
All of Yoshi's poses have darkness surrounding the room, except in Chili's Corner.
- This idea was previously used in FNAY Remastered on Scratch, before it was cancelled.
