Zelus is a major antagonist in the adult animated web series OnyxKing, serving as the main antagonist of the Broken Computer Arc, the titular main antagonist of its sequel arc, Revenge of Zelus and the posthumous overarching antagonist for Hidden memories arc.
Originally, she was nothing but a Splatoon OC created by OnyxKing who abandoned her due to Meggy's debut in SMG4's channel, which started her path of villainy, she began hacking the computer in order to be released. Afterwards, she began to put her plan of getting revenge on OnyxKing in motion, starting with conspiring with EM64 to take over the Mushroom Kingdom before she attempts to kill OnyxKing and his gang out of sheer spite and vengeance.
She was voiced (through archived recordings) by Yuki Tsujii.
Biography[]
Background[]
One year ago, OnyxKing is developing a new character on Garry's Mod. He cannot wait to release her and she's gonna be a big hit to his fans since Splatoon 2 is came close to be released. Before he could name her "Masterpiece", he was shocked to discovered that SMG4 had released a new video called "SMG4: If Mario Was In... Splatoon", causing him to abandon the project and left her to be forgotten instead of just deleting her in order to avoid the wrath from SMG4's fans.
However, she become aware that she was trapped in computer with nothing but the dark to keep her in company. She became sad and lonely who began to cry for anybody to save her, until her sadness turned from anger to hatred, turning herself into a monster she has become. In order to free herself, she has to broke SMG4's computer which led the events of Broken Computer Arc happens.
Broken Computer[]
In "SM64: Mario's Basics (A Baldi's Basics Video)", OnyxKing was seen playing Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning until Mario shows up and became angry of seeing him doing that. OnyxKing then dared Mario to play the game and solve the question, which he did by purposefully giving the wrong answer. Suddenly, the computer began to glitch out with a silhouette of Zelus appeared on screen and Mario got sucked into a computer and sent into a game while OnyxKing runs away in fear instead of helping him. This would even led Mario spend time to survive the game so he could escape. After Mario escape from the game, SMG4 is shocked of seeing his broken computer.
SMG4 tries to find a way to fix his computer, especially in "SW64: Wario The Technician" where he called the Wario Bros. to Peach's Castle to fix it. When the Wario Bros. are fixing the computer, the portal just appeared and sucked Wario into the computer. However, he was beaten up by Zelus offscreen while mistaken him for "OnyxKing" and threw him outside of the computer. Much to Waluigi's horror, he takes Wario to the hospital.
In "SM64: OnyxKing vs SMG4", the broken computer caused SMG4 to pick a fight with OnyxKing in a revenge and they're doing it around the Mushroom Kingdom until were broken up by Ashley and threatened to make up with each other or else she will force them even more which they did. After they reconciled, both SMG4 and OnyxKing agree to team up to fix the computer. In the end, the computer began to glitch and shows up the silhouette of Zelus.
In "SM64: BROKEN COMPUTER ARC FINALE!!", SMG4 and OnyxKing send Mario inside the computer to find Zelus while trying to avoid the computer soldiers with the help of MySpace. After managed to escape from the soldiers, he went inside the storage room and opens up the vault where Zelus was revealed to be inside. After she attacked Mario, they escaped from the computer while delighted that she was finally free. After she reveals her backstory to them, SMG4 is angry that she was the one who broke his computer while Zelus blames him for making her trapped inside computer for a year. Swearing vengeance on both SMG4 and OnyxKing, she introduced her name before she escapes from the castle.
After the events of the arc, her actions caused SMG4 to ended his friendship with OnyxKing as it stated in "SM64: Mariocise!!", which led him to open up Onyx Gym to get enough money to buy him a new computer in order to regain his friendship.
Revenge of Zelus[]
In "What Happened to EM64..." which takes place before the events of Revenge of Zelus Arc has happened, EM64 is still felt lonely and miserable without anything for his evil plans. But suddenly, Zelus arrived here and offered to be his friend, which began the events of Battle of the Retarded Villains 2020 later on.
In "OnyxKing: OnyxKing...Is...Fine", despite the computer has already been fixed at some unknown point, OnyxKing has been traumatized following the events of Broken Computer Arc and has shut himself from others in a square room with a picture of Bob-Omb Battlefield while stole the TV, video game consoles and refridgerator from unknown locations and put them inside. When both Mario and Luigi confront him, he reveals that he decided to embrace the life of shut-in and refused to leave the room until further notice. After kicking both Mario Bros. out, Zelus began to mocked him for his problems but OnyxKing tries to ignore everything she says until he screams in agony when she keeps it up.
When Mario and Luigi tries to break into the room and Zelus convinced him to let them in, OnyxKing managed to lure them away by throwing away the plate of spaghetti, distracting Mario from breaking in as result. After Mario Bros. failed to break into the room, OnyxKing is shocked to discover that Zelus has eaten all of the food from the fridge and decide to order a pizza. However, Zelus began to torment him again by saying she wants anchovies on top, knowing he doesn't like it.
Mario disguised himself as a pizza deliverer and stuffed Luigi inside the pizza box so they could get inside the room. When they finally get inside the room, Luigi tries to talk things out to OnyxKing but he refused any help from others and said he just want to be alone. Zelus began to mock OnyxKing again over his problems which leading to an arguement. After Mario knocking out OnyxKing by throwing a fridge at him, he and Luigi take him to the therapist, leaving Zelus inside the room. Zelus hoped to break him even more after the therapist restore his sanity before she disappears for seconds and later jumpscaring at the viewer before the video ends.
In "OnyxKing: Waluigi The Super Hero!!! 🦸♂️", her actions caused Wario to be remained in the hospital and hasn't been wake up for 24 hours, possibly because Dr. Mario was too useless to help him. Everytime Waluigi is worried about him and has to visit the hospital, Dr. Mario is angry that he kicks him out of here, causing Waluigi to felt lonely without Wario until his life changed upon meeting with Grasshopper and become a superhero.
In "OnyxKing: Mario's Jumpscare Mansion!!", she was watching an SMG4 video on TV while plotting to get revenge on OnyxKing. Upon seeing Meggy on TV, she angrily tries to punch the screen, but suddenly discover that she has electrokinetic powers due to being a side effect from being originally a computer data and decide to use her power for her advantage. The next day, she hired Wario who's recently got out of the hospital and had him trick the Mario Bros. by luring them into the mansion and got them trapped inside. However, they met a female ghost named Scary who told them to make it through 1,000 rooms in order to escape. She also told them not to use items during the game as well. After they managed to complete all 1,000 rooms, she then admits her deception and reveals herself to be Zelus all along. She zaps Mario with her electric shock and summoned the monsters they fought to capture them as well, only for Luigi to be captured alone while throwing Mario out of the mansion just to save him.
In "OnyxKing: What is Wario Up too...", she orders Wario to kidnap all the Inklings for her to use them for her plans in secret, which Waluigi and Grasshopper began to investigate the case to find out who's behind this. That afternoon, Waluigi discover that his culprit was his brother Wario and Grasshopper allowed him to talked things out to him. Later that night, Waluigi confronts Wario about him being involved in kidnapping the Inklings and tried to talked things out, but only for the latter to betray him by refusing to turn over the new leaf and admitted he sets up a bunch of monsters inside the mansion he located and scammed the Mario Bros. into coming here for his money making scheme.
After Waluigi runs away in tears, Wario regretfully says goodbye in tears as well. Zelus then approached Wario and congratulating him for getting rid of Waluigi from foiling their plans by taking the blame for her plans. She then shots a vodka on Wario's van and lit it on fire by throwing a torch at his van. They went to a closed down Joy Factory where she brainwashed all of the Inklings they captured by turning them into mindless yet violent pawns of hers by fusing their DNAs with salmonids'. They later began the second phase of her plans, which is brainwashing Luigi with a DNA of salmonoid.
In "OnyxKing: BOTRV - THE FINAL ONE", after recruiting EM64 for her plans, they went to a closed down Joy Factory and started working on Project: Salmonling to create an army. She then threw him in the cell once he outlived his usefulness before SMG3 was later captured as well. When they were brought to her, Zelus wanted them to fight in Battle of the Retarded Villains or else she'll zap them if they refused. After the game, EM64 reveals that he wanted to have a final game with him so he could have the opportunity to take over the world. Zelus went to fought him on the ring and managed to beat him up. She then puts him unconscious with her own demonic eyes, leaving him to be turned into crown by EM64. With the army of Salmonlings and their minions, they will make those who oppose them beg for mercy.
In "Mario Hits the Dance Floor - OnyxKing", while OnyxKing is still traumatized over his encounter with Zelus, he agrees to help Princess Peach with the Mushroom Party and later attends the party to get it off of his mind. When OnyxKing gets out of the party to get some fresh air, SMG4 approach and convince him to believe in himself. After getting his spirit back, OnyxKing returns to the party and agree to have a dance with Pyra, but only for him getting shot at his leg. Unfortunately, Pyra reveals herself to be Zelus in disguise and has EM64 and the army of Salmonlings raid the party and capture the guests by turning them into golden statues. She later summons Luigi who's already turned into a Salmonoid to attack Mario before he escapes from the castle.
In "Zelus and the Empire - OnyxKing", the Mushroom Kingdom has been taken over by EM64 and Zelus and turned the once proud kingdom into an Empire of Darkness, with more Inklings are being taken to most likely be turned into Salmonlings. Because of this, the entire city is destroyed and rest of the citizens become miserable including Mario who's still depressed of losing his brother Luigi, OnyxKing and even SMG4 (whom he didn't know that he's already escaped from Zelus and formed The Memesistance). Zelus visits OnyxKing in his cell and zaps him with an electric shock which made him screaming in pain before she left for a meeting. During the meeting, EM64 is very concerned about Mario because he knew he will strike back if they don't eliminate him as possible, but Zelus assured that she sent a spider to deal with him, which it fights with Mario and Waluigi at CostCo later on.
In "La Mémesistance - OnyxKing", SMG4 build a group of resistance called "The Memesistance" in order to fight against Zelus and EM64 after they banned the memes for unknown reasons. Their base of operation are on the underground of McDonalds which covers their hideout. Waluigi recruited Mario to the group and the members are welcomed him. Meanwhile at the castle, Wario and Princess Peach freeing OnyxKing from his imprisonment. At the Joy Factory, the Memesistance are successfully rescuing the kidnapped Inklings while Mario is able to free his brother from being brainwashed and managed to defeat the Ghost Girl.
In "Charge toward the Castle - OnyxKing", after discover that OnyxKing has escaped from his cell, Zelus order to lock all of the exits in the castle and is informed that an army is approaching the castle. The Resistance are fighting against EM64 and the Salmonlings outside of the castle while OnyxKing, Peach and Wario are fighting against Deer Lord at the basement. After they lost, EM64 runs towards the large circular room where Zelus is having a conversation with the Deer Lord. After EM64 reported about what happened, Zelus explained that OnyxKing is heading towards the Trophy Room which was all planned from beginning and activates the teleporter for him to escape, telling him that their partnership ends here. EM64 refused to due to being determined to fight back and commend her to be irreplacable, but Zelus had no choice but to threw him aside to the teleporter where he teleports to a desolated city, trapping him there by destroy it with a Splattershot. She is ready to face OnyxKing and others by herself.
In the two-part arc finale "Mario EndGame", while Peach, Heavy, Joker and Marine are freeing the hostages, OnyxKing, Mario, SMG4, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Bowser and Grasshopper are went to face Zelus together. Discovered that both Zelus and EM64 are missing, they realized that she is inside the security camera and Waluigi threw a Bob-Omb at it but Zelus managed to escape before explodes. She reveals to OnyxKing and his gang that she predicted everything that's happened by having the Deer Lord trapped them inside the large circular room and setting up the bomb that will explode in 1 hour, not caring if she dies along with them. She then summoned her three generals to help her fight against OnyxKing and his gang. Though she managed to get the upperhand on them at first, OnyxKing and his gang are able to defeat her in no time.
While OnyxKing and his gang attempt to convince her to surrender and offer her a chance to live peacefully, but she furiously told them to shut up. She angrily tells them how much it hurts her when OnyxKing abandoned her in a dark room filled with nothingness and that her sadness and loneliness turned from anger to hatred. Her hair and eyes began to glitched in horror, much to everyone's shock as she's about to do something dangerous. After powering herself up, she puts everyone in sleep where they have to confront their own nightmares, with an exception of Grasshopper who's been wearing mask all the time.
When she was about to finish off OnyxKing, Grasshopper stops her from doing so and they began to fought. Meanwhile, SMG3 wake up both SMG4 and OnyxKing and helps them upgrade Mario into something stronger with a computer in order to defeat Zelus. Had enough of her, Zelus began to power herself up even more and zaps her with an electric shock, weakening her in process. After finished upgrading Mario together, OnyxKing stops Zelus from killing Grasshopper and summoned Mario who's been turned into JoJo Mario while calling him a "god". Unfazed of his appearance, she's mocking Mario's JoJo appearance by calling it "before and after image of the simpleton" before he demonstrate his tremendous power by powerfully punching her, much to her shock. SMG4 explains that JoJo Mario doesn't feel any emotions and only desire to kill his target.
JoJo Mario then punched her while brought themselves outside to the city while OnyxKing followed them both to see her dying. Both JoJo Mario and Zelus are fighting at the city. After JoJo Mario avoids her electric shock and kicks her, Zelus grabs his leg and threw him to the building, angrily claims she should've killed him back at the mansion. Both JoJo Mario and Zelus repeatedly punching while shouting battle cries at each other while OnyxKing and EM64 followed them. Meanwhile, SMG4 and the others managed to throw the bomb away and killed the generals, allowed the Mushroom Kingdom to be turned back to normal.
Back to the fight, JoJo Mario punched Zelus to the air and avoids her electric shock before punching her to the pointy building. Zelus used her strength to throw a pointy building at JoJo Mario, only for the latter to slice the building in half. Furiously had enough of him, Zelus began to charging to her Envious Thunderstorm and threw it at him which explodes. Believing that Mario is dead at first, JoJo Mario managed to avoid her attack and grabs her by the neck. Noticing that OnyxKing has arrived, Zelus is about to charge her attack to kill him but is stopped after OnyxKing told Mario to hold off the attack. JoJo Mario then stabs her with his hand and fires an energy beam at her, disintegrating her into nothing, much to EM64's horror.
OnyxKing sadly looks up and saying farewell to Zelus and that he could've save her if he had known back then. EM64 angrily runs up to OnyxKing and promised to rebuild his own empire and crushed him. Mario is turned back to normal. Three days later, SMG4 went back to Australia to continue his career while revealing that SMG3 is evil, ending the whole arc.
Legacy[]
Zelus is mentioned twice by OnyxKing. In "Spider Infestation!", she was mentioned when he explains that Peach has installed the security system after taking her castle back. In "Mario Joins Doki Doki Literature Club Plus", she was mentioned again as he doesn't want another of her scenario when Monika hacks the game.
Other Appearances[]
In OnyxKing's SMG4 3M Collab Entry, Zelus kidnapped Meggy and strapped her in a chair to make her watch anime, much to Meggy's horror and her own pleasure.
In "Zelus Arc Release Date Trailer (Quality SFM Animation)" on a rainy day when Princess Peach's castle is under attack, Zelus is chasing down OnyxKing, Mario and SMG4 down in the castle. While Mario and SMG4 are survived, but OnyxKing is not so lucky when Zelus shoots him down in the leg before she's about to shoot him.
